Modern motor sport is far from being legitimised road carnage | Herald Sun
Here was someone writing about a sport that’s been a part of my life since I was 12 years old; from growing up in a family of motor sport fans and writing about it while I was still at school to working with media and sponsors within the sport to being the manager and partner of a leading driver, Mark Webber. The sport has dealt me some of the cruellest blows but equally some incredible highs, so if anyone was to be a judge of your column, I certainly felt I had a pretty unique insight. I don’t think it was intentional but your naivety allowed you to make sweeping generalisations about people and a sport that is hugely diverse. With the help of Tim Dahlberg’s article (which, if read in its entirety, was clearly referring to Indycar and NASCAR oval racing) you decreed that fans attend race meetings to “watch racers risk their lives, slap high fives for a good wreck”.
Great article from Mark Webber’s always awesome missus.
