Everything TypePad: Do Your Part: Spread the “Go... →
One of the things we feel strongly about at TypePad is taking care of our planet. We truly believe that every act of green—no matter how big or small—makes a difference. And we’ve noticed that a lot of you feel the same way. That’s why we’ve created these Green Badges for your blog. Now you can show all your readers how green you are, and encourage them to get involved as well.

You may not know his name but you will certainly know his work: Morris Cassanova (aka Mr Chicken) designs and makes signs for most of the fried chicken shops in the UK. In an extract from her book Chicken: Low Art, High Calorie, Siâron Hughes meets him
I’m kind of fascinated that there would be only one bloke doing this. How bizzzaaare!

With some notable exceptions, modern typeface families are print tools. The designers of them spend three weeks in a cubbyhole creating hundreds (or thousands) of kerning pairs because they’re being used at 1200dpi, not 75, 85 or 100dpi (or whatever nominal DPI rate your OS uses). Those traps he or she slaved over aren’t going to be worth a damn on your LCD, wether it be a lowly eeePC or a Mac...

Typeface Inspired by Comic Books Has Become a Font... →
Vincent Connare designed the ubiquitous, bubbly Comic Sans typeface, but he sympathizes with the world-wide movement to ban it.
Interesting to hear from the guy who brought us Comic Sans (though frankly the idea that it resembles comic book script suggests someone doesn’t read many comics!)
Turning the Page | Typography Commentary |... →
This new typoblogosphere calls for a new Typographica. It’s clear that what the type world needs now is not another blog. No, what’s missing is what keeps readers coming back to the site every year, despite our relative silence: informed reviews. The accessibility of type design tools and distribution is yielding hundreds of new font releases every month. Most of them are rubbish. Some of them are...
Security flaw leads Twitter, others to pull OAuth... →
A security hole in OAuth, the open-source protocol that acts as a “valet key” for users’ log-in information, has led services like Twitter and Yahoo to temporarily pull their support, CNET News has learned.
I believe the correct term is “Oh” and “Pish”
Twitter API Wiki / Sign in with Twitter →
Sign in with Twitter is the pattern of authentication that allows users to connect their Twitter account with third-party services in as little is one click. It utilizes OAuth and although the flow is very similar, the authorization URL and workflow differs slightly as described below.

Rather than spend paragraphs explaining how and what it is, just take a look for yourselves. It’s like an FFFFound for type-related content, a type-themed delicious for the eyes. One of the features that I’m particularly fond of (Kari’s handiwork) is the search by colour.

Please complete this sentence: Hi, my name is _________, I’m a ( designer / developer) and I stare into a lightbulb all day.
You with me so far? Staring at a bright white background while you read and work is like staring into a light bulb. It’s only a matter of time until as computer junkies we need thick black-framed glasses. I’d like to tell you about two applications I use to save my sight,...

Nambu, the new Twitter kid on the block →
If you’re an early adopter you probably have a number of Twitter clients installed including the once top dog Twitterific. Current favorites among the Twitterati are TweetDeck and the downright ugly but feature rich Twhirl. If you like the feature set of TweetDeck but not the problems associated with running Adobe Air applications then Nambu is worth a look if you are a Mac user.
FF Dingbats 2.0 :: A FontFont Focus by FontShop →
Designed back when Zapf Dingbats were the only symbols in font form, the FF Dingbats package was the first to illustrate modern communication, with some 800 images and icons of faxes, ISDN, disks, and keyboards. But the face of the tech world has changed significantly since the early ’90s. Floppy disks and cassette tapes have gone the way of the dinosaurs. So Johannes Erler and Henning Skibbe have...

Reading anything on the Internet has become a full-on nightmare. As media outlets attempt to eke out as much advertising revenue as possible, we’re left trying to put blinders on to mask away all the insanity that surrounds the content we’re trying to read.
It’s almost like listening to talk radio, except the commercials play during the program in the background. It’s a...

Bring it on!
